Getting to the Museum

The museum is easily accessible by public transport, car and bicycle and on foot.

Accessible Parking
We share a car park with the library and there is Blue Badge parking available. There is on-street standard parking and a public car park nearby. Check the map for our exact location or use our post code EH39 4JU in your satnav.

EV Charging Points
The nearest EV charging points are located in the Imperial Car Park, 3 East Rd, North Berwick EH39 4LG, which is a five minute walk from the museum:

Walking
Walking from the end of the High Street to the museum takes approximately 5 minutes.

Head towards the east end of the High Street, turn right along Quality Street. Cross at the crossing and you will see a mini roundabout straight ahead. Go left at the mini roundabout along East Road. School Road is the first turning on the left and the museum is 50 yards along School Road on the right.

Accessibility in the museum

  • All our staff are volunteers who are eager to help in any way they can. They will greet you as you enter the museum and explain the layout of the rooms and any new exhibits.

  • For those hard of hearing, there is a portable Hearing Loop. Please enquire at reception.

  • There are toilet facilities on the First Floor and a Changing Places accessible toilet with adult changing facility and baby changing facility on the Ground Floor.

  • The museum is situated on the first floor of a Grade C Listed building, above North Berwick Library. The museum can be accessed by stair or lift. Once on the first floor, there is level access and plenty of room between exhibits for wheelchair access.

  • We have seating available at several locations in our museum – next to our digital archive, audio visual displays and in our main exhibition area.

    All our exhibition spaces are designed for ease of access on foot or in a wheelchair.

  • Guide dogs, hearing dogs and other recognised assistance dogs are welcome in the museum.

    We are equally distanced from the Lodge Grounds to the south and North Berwick East Beach to the north. Both open spaces are approximately a five minute walk from the museum and allow dogs and assistance dogs.

  • We have tablets set up to view and translate our exhibitions into many different languages. Please ask at reception to borrow one during your visit.
