North Berwick’s Golfing Heritage

In the early 20th century over 100 golfers, clubmakers and caddies emigrated from North Berwick to the US, Canada, South Africa and Australia and became leading professionals in those lands. A group of four people from North Berwick got together to research these folk and to honour 30 of them with green plaques on the homes in which they had lived. A little ceremony was held to also remember the famous people who had been clubmakers and starters. Catriona Matthew, who herself grew up and lives in North Berwick, was the special guest:
